Mr. John Grondelski

Senior State Department Fellow, CASL

Mr. John Grondelski is the 2022-23 Senior State Department Fellow in the Strategic Wargaming Division at the National Defense University’s Center for Applied Strategic Learning (NDU-CASL), arriving in August 2022. His previous domestic State Department assignments included Deputy Director and Senior Poland Desk Officer in the Office of Central European Affairs in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs; Analyst in the Bureau of Intelligence and Research; and Russia Desk Officer for Relations with Third States in the Office of Russian Affairs.  His overseas assignments included Chief of visa services at U.S. Consulate General Shanghai and U.S. Embassy Bern, Chief of American Citizen Services at U.S. Embassy Warsaw, consular assignments in Warsaw and London, and a detail in Taiwan. He holds a M.A. and Ph.D. in theology from Fordham University and a B.A. in philosophy and theology from St. Mary’s College (Michigan). He is married to Dorota, a specialist in the Washington DC Passport Agency.  They have three children.
