Col Jeffrey Greenwald

Senior Military Fellow, CASL

Colonel Jeff Greenwald is a Senior Military Fellow with the Strategic Wargaming Division at the National Defense University’s Center for Applied Strategic Learning (NDU-CASL). He joined CASL in July 2022. Prior to this, Col Greenwald served in many capacities throughout the Fleet Marine Force and Headquarters Marine Corps as an infantry and intelligence officer. His Joint service includes tours at U.S. Central Command, Special Operations Command Central, Marine Forces Cyberspace Command, and multiple tours at the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Jeff also served three tours in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, as well as many assignments throughout U.S. Central Command as a Middle East/North Africa Regional Affairs Officer.

 

Col Greenwald received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Bowling Green State University and holds a Master of Science degree in International Affairs from Florida State University and a Master of Arts in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. He attended the Senior Executive Fellows, Government Executive Education Program at Harvard University, the Kennedy School of Government. He is a certified Project Management Professional, Risk Management Professional, and an Agile Certified Practitioner.

 

In a civilian capacity, Col Greenwald worked for the Defense Intelligence Agency as an Intelligence Planner at U.S. Central Command, Tampa, FL from 2010-2016. His assignments focused on planning and integrating intelligence operations, activities, and actions into all phases of strategic, operational, and tactical-level deliberate planning and crisis operations. He is currently a Senior Advisor for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

 

Col Greenwald married his wife Beth in 2007, and they have a son, Aiden (14), and a daughter, Madison (11).
